However, sometimes, it is a simple case of boosting your Wifi signals by updating your router, placing your router in an optimal location or investing in newer Wifi technology. However, the majority of the time, Wifi signals and connections could be slowed down by things you might not even expect, such as mirrors, floors, and even other household appliances. 1. Household appliances

There are many appliances in a household that can slow down the Wifi. Things like microwaves, baby monitors, and cordless phones all use the 2.4GHz frequency band and can interfere with the Wifi signal. Stuffing unsightly routers and wires behind big-screen TVs or subwoofers may help increase the aesthetic of your living area, but it also significantly worsens your Wifi signals. To help diagnose the issue, start by checking the wifi speed in different parts of your house. If the speed is low in one specific area, there’s a good chance that there is an appliance causing the interference. 2. Neighbouring Wifi networks

Your neighbour’s wifi network might be slowing down your own. This happens when two routers are too close to each other, and their signals end up overlapping. The problem becomes worse when both routers are using the same channel. The most frequently used channel is 2.4GHz, and it’s what most of your household appliances operate on, which is what leads to Wifi interference.
